The Hemlock comfortably sleeps 6 in beds (3 queen bedrooms). If your group is larger, reach out directly — we can discuss options as additional cabins come online or review your level of comfort crashing on couches.

Cancellation terms are listed on the booking platform and vary by how far in advance you cancel. Generally: cancellations 14+ days before check-in receive a full refund less the service fee. We recommend checking the specific policy at time of booking as this may vary seasonally.

Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out may be available depending on the booking schedule — reach out in advance and we'll see what we can do. We need the full window between guests to properly prepare the cabin.

Steepwood uses lockboxes throughout — no key exchange needed. Your access code for the lockbox will be provided before your arrival. You can arrive at any time after check-in. Detailed directions to the property are included with your booking confirmation.

The property is just outside Summersville — easy to find, but the final approach is on a private road that won't show up on standard GPS. Follow the directions we send, not just the map app. We recommend downloading offline maps if your group has any concern about cell service on the road in.

Yes — high-speed internet is available at the cabin and typically operates between 100-150mbps. The connection is fast and reliable. Cell signal on the property can be spotty depending on your carrier (T-Mobile and Verizon tend to work better than others out here).

The Hemlock has a fully equipped kitchen — full-size refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and a full set of cookware, dishes, and utensils. You just need to bring your food. Basics like dish soap and a dish sponge are provided; consumables like coffee and cooking oils are also provided.

Yes — there are rugged hiking trails throughout the 88-acre property. The terrain is real West Virginia hill country, so bring appropriate footwear. The trails are not manicured or marked for casual strolling — everything beyond our property as you head onto Army Corps of Engineers land and Summersville Lake State Wildlife Area is "adventure hiking", trails are unmarked, disappear at times, and often require bushwhacking. Prepare for adventure if you head out.

Yes, The Hemlock is pet friendly. Please keep pets off the furniture, clean up after them on the property, and don't leave them unattended inside the cabin. Please keep pets on leash at all times when outdoors.

No smoking inside the cabin. Smoking outside is permitted — please be responsible about fire safety given the surrounding forest, and dispose of materials properly. A fire safety fine applies for smoking evidence found inside.

The Hemlock accommodates the listed guest count for standard stays. Large events, parties, or gatherings exceeding occupancy require pre-approval. Reach out before booking if you have something specific in mind — we're not inflexible, we just want to know what we're working with.
